One really special thing connected to Innovations is the juried competition handled by Art Saint Louis.

20th anniversary exhibition. Art Saint Louis presents our biennial fiber/textile art exhibition open to artists in Missouri and the eight states that border us: Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Juror: Marci Rae McDade, artist, curator and Editor, Surface Design Journal.

Lots of free events-- opening receptions, talks, gallery hops, and lectures are planned throughout Innovations in Textiles. There are also some fee based workshops. And new this year: Fiber East Self Guided Tour. The big weekend in October is outlined below:
October 2 Friday
- Free Self Guided Gallery Hop, see participating venues at craftalliance.org
- Free Keynote Speaker: Jenelle Porter (Curator at Boston Institute of Contemporary Art) at the Contemporary Art Museum 9:30 am
- Followed by Guided Bus Tour with lunch included to select galleries for artist/curator talks. Cost $45 per ticket, including box lunch - Venues to be announced.
- Free Fiber Focus Reception with juror Marci Rae McDade at Art Saint Louis 6-9 pm
- Free Fiber East Self Guided Tour to outlying galleries in Alton and Edwardsville spelled out below:
