Laura Strand

Laura has been a force for textile art at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville since 1995.  Weaving is her passion.
She has a lovely website here.

Laura was Pat's fibers professor at SIUE, a fantastic mentor and friend and served on Pat's thesis committee.  She was a staunch supporter of Pat's transition from traditional printmaker to fiber artist.  Laura was also Erin Cork's instructor and  mentor to Erin Vigneau Dimick.

Here she is at an opening at EAC wearing a jacket made by friend Lillian Bates from some of my shibori rust silk.

This is a detail of a piece that combined Laura's handweaving with strips of silk cut from some shibori rust silk of mine.  This piece was part of the first collaboration.

Laura, standing, with Jo Stealey and Erin Vigneau Dimick at one of the collaboration meetings in 2011 discussing Jo's work.

One of Laura's gorgeous digital jacquard weavings based on aerial views of farmland out west.
