Patricia Vivod - curator

Pat curated Collaboration: Reaping and Sewing in 2011 which was part of Innovations in Textiles 9. Now she is taking on the curator's role again with Material Revival which will be held at Edwardsville Arts Center for Innovations 2015.

The 2011 collaboration began with an invitation she extended to former students Erin Cork Woolfolk and Nina Ganci.  The idea grew to include only people who had a teacher/ student/mentor relationship with the others.  Pat invited Laura Strand who was one of her thesis professors in grad school at SIUE.

Pat blogs at Sentimental Pentimento which also serves as her website.

Below is Pat's signature piece from the 2011 Innovations show.  Topographia is shibori rust silk combined with a portion of a cotton digital jacquard weaving in the center that came from Laura Strand.  There is extensive free motion quilting on this piece.

Pat's recent work involved co-curating and participating in an international show From the Inside Out at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in fall 2014.  The gallery shot above includes Pat's piece, The Feast of Saint Fracksis on the back wall.

A detail from the piece above which is two layers of silk organza over silk dupioni.  Both layers are printed with the same image from rust.  The detail is the dupioni layer only.

Pat and her co-curator are creating an exhibition catalog of the show which will be done soon.  You can view some of the work and learn about the show here.
